This lovely English gentleman’s lake house overlooking Little Traverse Bay is the result of a complete renovation of the existing structure along with two new additions - one the fully appointed paneled library with an adjoining country sun porch. Each room through out the cottage is appointed with authentic solid brass reproduction lighting fixtures , handcrafted English furnishings, and period upholstery.
The fine, hand crafted paneling is an inspiration derived from English gentlemen’s clubs of the late 19th century. We looked to England to find historically correct period pieces. It took several years, but most of the case goods and other wood furnishings were handcrafted in England. The intimate country kitchen has a butcher block island, Portuguese backsplash and granite countertops. From any vantage point within the main living space, and master bedroom the family can enjoy at least one of the three wood burning fireplaces.
The owners are avid readers and each nook and cranny was designed to be filled with books, albums, and maps. Much like the classic estates of the English country side, this charming cottage provides a rambling and welcoming aesthetic.
